Police continue to probe robbery
AUSTINTOWN
Police continue investigating a robbery that occurred just after 11 a.m. Monday in the parking lot of Huntington Bank on South Raccoon Road.
A woman was on her way into the bank when she was accosted by a thin, tall black man in his mid-20s. She was holding a money bag with no cash in it, just a check.
The man fought with her and eventually knocked her down and stole the bag, police said. She let him run once he showed her a handgun. He was seen on a surveillance camera from the Shell gas station on South Raccoon Road going toward the Wedgewood Pizza shop on South Raccoon.
Police believe he had an accomplice and there may possibly be video of him getting away in a car at the pizza shop.
This is the first robbery to occur at this bank, according to police.
No signs of foul play in death of Pa. man
NEW CASTLE, PA.
Pennsylvania State Police say there are no signs of foul play or trauma in the death of a 59-year-old New Castle man, whose body was found Sunday afternoon in a quarry pond, and that the evidence is consistent with a drowning.
An autopsy was performed Monday on Dwight Edward Copper, of George Washington Road, who was pronounced dead at the scene after being found by a visitor at 2:40 p.m.
Copper’s body was floating in about 10 feet of water in the Kino Quarry pond on Kino Road in Washington Township, Lawrence County, state police said, estimating he had been dead for about 24 hours when found.
Lab tests are pending to determine the manner of death, with suicide being considered as a possibility, state police said. Dr. James Smith, a forensic pathologist, did the autopsy at Heritage Valley Medical Center in Beaver, Pa.
