POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

July 29

Identity theft: A Clyde Street woman saw that her identity had been compromised after discovering $2,545 worth of fraudulent activity to her credit card.

July 30

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 5600 block of Clingan Road was found with a damaged steering column.

July 31

Burglary: Someone forcibly entered a home in the 3800 block of Hunters Hill Drive through a rear window before stealing an estimated $29,405 worth of jewelry.

Theft: Three hundred gallons of water were stolen from a fire station on Youngstown-Pittsburgh Road.

Aug. 1

Theft: Thirteen pills were missing from a residence in the 8400 block of Chesterton Drive.

Criminal mischief: Part of a driveway in the 6700 block of James Street sustained damage.

Aug. 4

Assault: A Boardman man had a minor injury after reporting he had been assaulted in the 2100 block of Manor Avenue.

BOARDMAN

Aug. 1

Theft: A man stole a bottle of body fragrance from CVS Pharmacy, 7230 Market St.

Theft: A Lealand Avenue man noticed two license plates missing from his garage.

Menacing: A Sheridan Road woman said she received a threatening message via Facebook.

Theft: Three women stole merchandise from Dollar General, 5953 South Ave.

Theft: Three work benches were taken from a former auto dealership in the 100 block of Boardman-Poland Road.

Menacing: A Southern Boulevard woman told police a couple threatened to beat up the accuser and her husband.

Criminal damaging: A key was used to damage a vehicle’s finish in the 100 block of Shorehaven Drive.

Aug. 2

Domestic violence: Shanay T. Jacobs, 21, of 258 Shields Road, Boardman, was charged with the crime after a fight between three people, including her sister, who alleged Jacobs had assaulted her, causing injuries to the accuser’s face, arms, mouth and forehead.

Theft: Two woman took 15 packages of razors and $200 worth of other merchandise from Family Dollar, 4030 South Ave.

Theft: A Salem girl, 17, was charged in the theft of two tubes of makeup from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.

Arrest: Police and a U.S. marshal arrested 40-year-old Brian D. Gillan at his residence, 40 Romaine Ave., Boardman, on warrants charging aggravated menacing and phone harassment after a former friend reported having received a few months’ worth of threatening and harassing calls, including one asking the accuser to shoot his wife in the stomach.

Assault: A vehicle check in the 7300 block of South Avenue resulted in 20-year-old Brittany R. Hudson’s arrest. Hudson, of 68 Lilburne Drive, Youngstown, was wanted on a Campbell warrant charging assault.

Assault: A woman alleged a staff member with a business that provides services to those with mental challenges grabbed a Lemoyne Avenue woman’s wrist, causing a sprain.

Attempted misuse of a credit card: An Anderson Drive woman learned someone tried to withdraw money from her husband’s account.

Assault: A woman told police a man grabbed her left biceps, neck and shoulder during an argument at his Basil Avenue residence.

Identity fraud: A Canfield woman told authorities she received a bill from a utility company stating her deceased father, formerly of Glendale Avenue, owes $1,209 for damages to a utility-pole guide wire.

Assault/criminal damaging: An Allen Drive woman noticed all of her car’s tires were slashed, apparently after her daughter had been in a fight.

Vandalism: A car’s passenger-side window was broken in the 100 block of Stadium Drive. The damage estimate was $300.

Theft: Two woman stole $80 worth of merchandise from Family Dollar, 4030 South Ave.

Aug. 3

Drugs: A traffic stop in the 5100 block of Market Street led to a felony charge of trafficking in marijuana against 33-year-old Olympia E. Rodriguez, 749 Cambridge Ave., Youngstown, when, police said, 26 grams of suspected marijuana in several bags was seized.

Assault: A Market Street man was not injured during a fight at his home.

Theft: A woman stole cat and dog food, a trash can, makeup and other items from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Theft: A 13-year-old Youngstown girl was charged with stealing one pair each of socks and undergarments from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall, then was released to the custody of an aunt.

Drugs: After receiving information about an erratic driver on Western Reserve Road, officers arrested Jacqueline A. Kollar of 3702 Silliman St., and charged the 49-year-old New Waterford woman with one felony and misdemeanor count each of drug abuse. Two small packages of a substance that tested positive for heroin were found, a report said.

Criminal damaging: A woman driving through a parking lot on Doral Drive told officers a man on foot with whom she had gotten into an argument tossed a set of keys, causing three or four scratches to her car’s fender.

Theft: A Green Bay Drive man noticed his wallet missing from his home.

Robbery: A Market Street woman told police a man sitting with the accuser in her vehicle grabbed her purse and took $60 before demanding she return to her apartment.

Vandalism: A tenant reportedly destroyed a bathroom sink in a room at a South Avenue motel after becoming enraged when denied being able to check out later in the day.

Theft: An undisclosed sum of money was missing from a drawer at Family Video, 5205 Market St.

Assault: A Shields Road woman alleged a tow-truck driver twice intentionally ran over her foot with her vehicle after repossessing the car. Beforehand, the driver pushed her to the ground as she retrieved property from the vehicle, she told authorities.

Theft: A New Middletown woman reported her wallet stolen at a Market Street restaurant.

Arrest: Police pulled over 35-year-old Thomas L. Shipley near his residence, 6300 South Ave., Boardman, and charged him with operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft: A Meadowbrook Avenue man reported firewood had been removed from his yard without permission.

Domestic violence: Officers took into custody 27-year-old Jasmine K. Stewart at her home, 7064 Paxton Road, Boardman, on a warrant. A man alleged that during an argument, Stewart had struck the left side of his head with a wine glass, causing several cuts.

Aug. 4

Arrest: Authorities investigated a vehicle off the road near East Western Reserve Road before charging 30-year-old Ebonie M. Fulks, 261 Norwood Ave., Youngstown, with obstructing official business. Fulks, who was wanted on a felony probation-violation warrant from Hillsborough County, Fla., provided a false name, police said.

Theft: A woman noticed her purse missing from a room at a Market Street motel.

Criminal damaging: A satellite-dish receiver was damaged in the 5300 block of Southern Boulevard.

Recovered property: A Grover Drive man found a $70 bicycle after having reported it stolen from his backyard.

Assault: A motorist at a traffic light on U.S. Route 224 told authorities another driver around age 60 intentionally slammed on his brakes in front of the accuser, got out of his vehicle and tried to punch him several times.

Theft: A man reported a backpack stolen from a driveway in the 700 block of Squirrel Hill Drive.

Arrest: Authorities on Glenwood Avenue pulled over 27-year-old Jay S. Davis and charged the Novi, Mich., man with operating a vehicle impaired.

Aggravated menacing: A Clifton Drive man alleged a neighbor threatened him with serious bodily harm.

Theft: A Youngstown man discovered a trailer had been stolen from behind his wife’s business in the 5900 block of Market Street.

Theft: A Struthers boy, 12, and a Youngstown boy, 13, were charged with taking three BB guns from Walmart and released to the custody of the younger boy’s mother.

Aug. 5

Drugs: Police on Shields Road pulled over and charged Gianni J. Donofrio, 19, with trafficking in marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a vehicle impaired after alleging Donofrio, of 1387 St. Albans Drive, Boardman, had a backpack containing a digital scale, a device commonly used to grind marijuana, two small jars with suspected marijuana residue and other contraband.
