No incumbents file for Youngstown school board

YOUNGSTOWN — Five candidates are vying for three seats on the Youngstown Board of Education — and none of them are incumbents.

Candidates for nonpartisan positions on the Nov. 5 general-election ballot had to file nominating petitions with their county’s board of elections by Wednesday.

The three Youngstown school board incumbents — Lock P. Beachum Sr., a 16-year member along with Rachel I. Hanni and Andrea Mahone, both finishing their first terms — opted not to seek re-election.

Youngstown is the only school district in Mahoning County to not have an incumbent file for re-election this year.
