Youngstown and Austintown set Night Out events tonight

A National Night Out parade is set for tonight on the North Side, at Wick Park Pavilion, Youngstown .

There will be a parade that will line up at 4:30 p.m. at the corner of Park Avenue and Elm Street and begin at 5 p.m. After the parade, refreshments will be served at the pavilion.

This is part of National Night Out program, dedicated to the development and promotion of various crime-prevention programs including neighborhood watch groups, law enforcement agencies, state and regional crime prevention associations, businesses, civic groups, and individuals, devoted to safer communities.

Austintown, too, plans a 6 p.m. event for Austintown Township Park, 600 Kirk Road. This is the first year Austintown will participate in the National Night Out hosted by the police department and the trustees.
