WARREN

A Southington man has been convicted of operating a motor vehicle impaired for the eighth time and will be sentenced in about six weeks.

Ronald W. Meyers, 54, of U.S. Route 422, could get from two years to more than six years in prison, including one to five years for having had six or more OVIs in the last 20 years, said Mike Burnett, assistant Trumbull County prosecutor.

Judge Andrew Logan accepted his plea and will sentence him after the county Adult Probation Department conducts a presentence investigation. Meyers also will forfeit a vehicle.

Meyers refused to take a blood-alcohol test when he was arrested Aug. 4, 2012, on Geauga Portage Easterly Road in West Farmington.

He was slumped over the wheel of his car when a county sheriff’s deputy found him, reports said.

Deputies had to break open a window to determine what was wrong with him, according to a police report.
