Police recover stolen truck; driver arrested

Police recovered a stolen Nissan Titan on Friday evening.

The truck, which was parked in a driveway of a home on Colonial Drive, was occupied when spotted by police.

The man in the driver’s seat, Torrance Davis, 20, was arrested on a charge of receiving stolen property.

Davis, who lives on Green Acres Drive, told police he and others had been driving the truck around all day and that the vehicle had “been getting passed around all week.”

Police said the truck also had stolen plates.

Dodgeball tournament at Girard High School

Teams in nearly 30 areas served by Allegiant Air, including the Mahoning and Shenango valleys, will participate in the Dodge High Fares Dodgeball League Tournament on Aug. 24.

The tournament will be in the Girard High School gym and is designed to raise money for charity while promoting Allegiant flights at Youngstown-Warren Regional Airport in Vienna, according to a press release.

Half of all registration fees will go to the winning team’s charity of choice, while the remainder will be donated to the Youngstown Air Force Reserve, Friends of Families program.

Nonperishable food items will be collected at the door for the Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.

Man pleads guilty, awaits sentencing

YOUNGSTOWN

A Sebring man awaits sentencing for using the Internet to solicit sex from who he thought was a 12-year-old girl.

According to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, Joshua Reynolds, 28, pleaded guilty to one count of importuning in Mahoning County Common Pleas court on Monday.

A second count of importuning was dropped.

The 12-year-old was actually a decoy, but authorities say Reynolds still tried to set up a time to meet the girl who he thought was only in the seventh grade.
