Pa. State Police: No foul play in death of man found in New Castle quarry pond

NEW CASTLE, Pa. — Pennsylvania State Police say there are no signs of foul play or trauma in the death of a 59-year-old New Castle man, whose body was found Sunday afternoon in a quarry pond, and that the evidence is consistent with a drowning.

An autopsy was performed Monday on Dwight Edward Copper, of George Washington Road, who was pronounced dead at the scene after being found by a visitor at 2:40 p.m.

Copper’s body was floating in about 10 feet of water in the Kino Quarry pond on Kino Road in Washington Township, Lawrence County, state police said, estimating he had been dead for about 24 hours when found.
