The softball tournament benefits breast-cancer patients

AUSTINTOWN

The fourth annual Saving Second Base coed softball tournament, benefiting area breast-cancer patients and the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center, will take place Sept. 8 at Austintown Township Park, 6000 Kirk Road. Registration is at 7:30 a.m. Play starts at 8 a.m.

The deadline to enter is Aug. 16. The cost is $250 per team of 10-14 players, four of whom must be female. The cost for individual players is $20. Each player receives a T-shirt, light lunch and bottled water.

Corporate sponsors are needed. Sponsors receive backstop signage and are included in all advertising and on the T-shirts. Sponsor opportunities are Grand Slam, $1,000; Home Run, $500; Triple Play, $300; Double Play, $200, and Single Hit, $100.
