Date is growing close for horticulture show

YOUNGSTOWN

The Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown will host its 49th annual Horticulture Show on Aug. 24 and 25 at Fellows Riverside Gardens, 123 McKinley Ave., in Mill Creek Park.

It is open to all exhibitors, and the public is welcome.

The contest will comprise 14 judging sections, including fruits, vegetables, perennials, annuals, hanging baskets and potted plants.

Entries to be judged must be received between 7 and 10:30 a.m. Aug. 24. Late entries will be displayed but not judged.

Awards will be given in the following categories: Sectional, Best of Show and Sweepstakes. The winner of the Heaviest Edible Tomato Award will receive $25. Included will be youth gardener awards for those 16 and under.
