Marine reunion
YOUNGSTOWN
Marine Lt. Col. David D. Morgan, commanding officer of the 1st Recruit Training Battalion, Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C., is the main speaker for the 34th annual reunion of the Marine Corps League’s Tri-State Marine Detachment 494.
The reunion, from 6 p.m. to midnight Aug. 17 at the Saxon Club, 710 S. Meridian Road, is open to all Marines past and present, friends and guests.
The event begins with refreshments at 6 p.m. Dinner is at 7 followed by the speaker, music and dancing until midnight. The evening also includes door prizes, a basket auction and a 50/50 raffle.

RETIREMENT
20 years in Air Force
AUSTINTOWN
Air Force Technical Sgt. Richard A. Campbell, the son of Paul and Carol Campbell Sr. of Austintown, has retired from the Air Force after 20 years’ service.
His retirement ceremony, conducted by Maj. Brent Bladow, was May 23 at Offutt Air Force Base, Neb., where Campbell was the manager of personnel programs at Headquarters Air Force Weather Agency. He is on leave until Oct. 1, his official retirement date.
Campbell’s father, Paul Sr., retired after 20 years in the Marine Corps and Army Reserve, and his brother, Paul Jr. of Canfield, retired after 20 years in the Army Reserve, including nine years of active duty. He also has a brother, Christopher of Columbus, and two children, Kiara and Kaven.
At Offutt AFB, Campbell managed officer and enlisted personnel programs for the 1,400-member field operating agency, validated assignment allocations and processed special-duty assignments.
Campbell, born in Columbus, graduated in 1993 from Chaney High School and enlisted in the Air Force in September 1993.
His assignments included postal work, personnel readiness, systems management and noncommissioned officer in charge roles for Reserve Officer Training Corps detachments.
During his career, Campbell deployed to Saudi Arabia in support of Operation Southern Watch and to United Arab Emirates, Baghdad and Balad, Iraq, in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. His most recent assignment was at Camp Atterbury, Ind., as the cadre personnel support for provincial reconstruction teams deploying to Afghanistan.
Campbell is studying for a bachelor’s degree in human resources at Harrison College, Indianapolis.
