Learning center marks 30 years

Boardman

The Hitchcock Woods Learning Center in Boardman will host a 30-year ribbon-cutting celebration at 10 a.m. Monday.

The day-care, preschool and kindergarten center was opened in 1983 by Pattie Welsh.

“It is just a consuming job,” Welsh said. “I haven’t even had time to think about it. There are so many lives involved and you get to watch the little people grow up.”

The center’s first kindergartner and first infant will be at the ceremony.

The public is welcome to come to the celebration. Cookies and punch will be provided.
