Mahoning County Engineer Patrick T. Ginnetti said Blosser Road in Beaver Township, between state Routes 165 and 164, will be closed Monday through Aug. 23 to replace a culvert. Traffic will be detoured along Routes 164 and 165. For information, call the engineer’s office at 330-799-1581.
Investigating death
LISBON
The Ohio State Highway Patrol continues its investigation into the death of a 25-year-old Wellsville man in a motorcycle accident Thursday.
Justin Knapp’s motor- cycle ran into a car pulling out of a private driveway on Y&O Road in Madison Township just after 2:30 p.m.,SFlbaccording to The Vindicator’s broadcast partner 21 WFMJ-TV.
According to a report from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the motorcycle went down an embankment. Knapp was thrown from the motorcyle and died from injuries suffered in the crash. The car’s driver wasn’t injured.
Phone seller is robbed

A Girard man attempting to sell a smartphone on Craigslist was robbed in Boardman by the potential buyer, according to a police report.
The man met with the buyer at 1:10 p.m. Thursday at the Dollar General on Midlothian. As he went to retrieve the phone charger for the buyer, the buyer pulled out a knife and took money from the man’s wallet and the phone he was supposed to buy, according to the report.
The man made the victim drive him the JQ’s Quik Shoppe on South Avenue in Youngstown, where he got out of the vehicle and ran.
Backyard Carnival
NEW MIDDLETOWN
Olivia Helmick, 8, plans to make a difference for the homeless at Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley in Youngstown with her second-annual Backyard Carnival from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
To accommodate all of the planned activities, the carnival has been moved from Olivia’s family home to the village’s Welker Park, behind the New Middletown Municipal Building, 10711 Main St.
All proceeds from carnival activities will benefit the mission. The public event will include games, a basket auction, raffles, sales, prizes and food. Jim Echement, mission executive director, and other staff members have volunteered to participate in a dunk tank.

The Mahoning County Educational Service Center is inviting business leaders to help shape education to meet their needs.
If employees lack skills, the Mahoning County ESC can improve the workforce with the help of business leaders.
The center will provide the structure and organization for all who want to participate in this opportunity to improve the educational experience to meet employers’ needs. To hear more about how your company can help and ultimately benefit, there’s a meeting Aug. 12 in the Joyce Brooks Center at the Mahoning County Career & Technical Center, 7300 N. Palmyra Road.
