Poland softball team defeats Boardman

In a stunning comeback, the Poland U10 softball team defeated a strong Boardman team by a score of 8-5 to secure the U10 2013 District II Championship July 15.
Trailing 5-1 headed into the last inning, the Poland team relied on patience at the plate with several walks and took advantage of a key Boardman error to tie the score at 5. Supported by Camryn Lattanzio’s superb pitching performance, the game went into extra innings and Poland prevailed by scoring three runs in the top of the eighth inning sparked by key hits from Brooke Bobbey and Camryn Lattanzio.
In Boardman’s final at-bat in the bottom of the eighth inning, Poland’s defense responded with fine fielding plays by Jordyn Olson and Lucy Graziano to secure the win.
With the district title, Poland now advances to the Little League state tournament in Clyde, Ohio which starts on July 27.
