Child's backyard carnival Sunday in New Middletown benefits Rescue Mission
NEW MIDDLETOWN — Olivia Helmick, 8, plans to make a difference for the homeless at Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley in Youngstown with her second-annual Backyard Carnival from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday.
To accommodate all the planned activities, the carnival has been moved from Olivia’s family home to the village’s Welker Park, located behind the New Middletown Municipal Building, 10711 Main St.
All proceeds from carnival activities will benefit the mission. The public event will include games, a basket auction, raffles, sales, prizes and food. Jim Echement, mission executive director, as well as other staff members have volunteered to participate in a dunk tank.
For information, contact Olivia’s grandmothers, Pam Coover at 330-720-1175 or Colleen Helmick at 330-502-3390.
