The last training workshop for the Lots of Green 2.0 program will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. office, 820 Canfield Road.
Lots of Green 2.0 is a citywide vacant land reuse competition meant to assist vacant land reuse projects throughout the city. Through this project, the YNDC will select a limited number of innovative and impactful projects to support with financial and technical resources.
Eligible sites and applicants are located within the city. Groups of residents, neighborhood associations, nonprofit organizations, businesses, and faith-based organizations are encouraged to apply. All applicants should be committed to working with neighborhood groups and grass-roots organizations to ensure the long-term success of projects.
Attendance at the training workshop is required to apply for the project competition.
SR 45 reopening after collapse of culvert
WELLSVILLE
State Route 45 north of Wellsville is expected to reopen three to four weeks from now after a culvert collapsed July 10 due to heavy rains, the Ohio Department of Transportation said. Mike Pusateri Excavating Inc. of East Liverpool began the $150,000 repair job July 22. The recommended detour is east on U.S. Route 30 to East Liverpool, south on state Route 7 and back to state Route 45, and reverse.
New restaurant facility offers special options

A new restaurant, bar, and banquet center opens its doors for the first time today at the Rodeway MetroPlex on Belmont Avenue. The grand opening is at 7 p.m. Roy Hanna said his restaurant will offer Mediterranean food, kosher meats, pasta, seafood and vegetarian and gluten-free options.
Victim uncooperative
YOUNGSTOWN
Police say a man shot in both legs about 4:25 a.m. Wednesday on Elliot Lane on the East Side has not been cooperative.
Officers were called to the area of 87 Elliot Lane for a report of gunfire and found a man on a porch at 92 Elliot who had gunshot wounds to both legs. The man told police he was “outside chilling” when he was shot.
The man gave police a fake name and did not give much information, reports state. At the crime scene, officers found four spent shell casings and seven .12-gauge shotgun shells, reports said.
Car fire on I-80
NORTH JACKSON
North Jackson Volunteer Fire Department and Ohio State Highway Patrol responded to a car fire at 5:04 p.m. Wednesday on Interstate 80, west of the Meander Bridge.
The car was fully engulfed. There were no injuries.
I-80 westbound was closed for a short time. The passing lane on I-80 was re-opened at 5:48 p.m. and the inside lane at 6:38.
No other information was available.
The incident also affected traffic on state Route 11.
