Fall beer festival coming to Youngstown

Fall beer festival coming to Youngstown

Staff report

Youngstown

Plans are under way for a new, multi-day beer festival to be held this October in downtown Youngstown.

The Youngstown BeerFest will feature a number of beer-related events around the city leading up to the main event at the Covelli Centre on Saturday, Oct. 5. Organized by Gatta Productions, BeerFest will feature a large variety of beers from the local area, from across the country, and from around the globe. Dominic Gatta III, president of the Youngstown-based production company says this event will be

different than most others.

“There will be a number of smaller events leading up to Saturday,” he said. Some restaurants downtown will be hosting tastings and brewer ‘meet and greet’ sessions during the week.”

Gatta says he has been working with a number of distributors for the past few months in lining

up top-name breweries to participate. “We will be marketing heavily not just locally, but well into

the Cleveland and Pittsburgh markets too,” he said.

Ticket information and a list of participating breweries will be released in the coming weeks.

The event’s website, www.YoungstownBeerFest.com, will be launched soon, containing

additional information.

A portion of the BeerFest proceeds will benefit Golden String Inc., a Youngstown-based

nonprofit organization providing respite staffing, transportation, vocational training and social

opportunities to persons with disabilities.
