METRO DIGEST || Men’s Rally in Valley is Saturday


4th Men’s Rally Saturday at Covelli

The fourth annual Men’s Rally in the Valley is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Covelli Centre. Doors will open at 8 a.m., and tickets may be purchased at that time for $15.

Speakers will be Bob Pavlich, Juan Rivera, Ebenezer Applagyel, Neal Jeffrey, Joe White and Ken Johnson. Numerous praise bands and groups of musicians from local churches will perform.

The theme is “Iron Sharpens Iron,” taken from Proverbs 27:17, “Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” Previous events have drawn men from 50 to 60 churches representing 10 to 15 denominations.

Car cruises move

Austintown

The Mahoning Valley Old Car Club Car Cruise has moved from its former location at Chick Fil-A in Boardman to the Austintown Senior Center, 112 Westchester Drive.

From May 21 to September, the Car Cruises will be from 6 to 9 p.m. every Tuesday, weather permitting.

The shows will include displays of old classic cars, muscle cars and new cars. The Senior Center will provide sloppy joes, pulled pork sandwiches, lemon shakes, coffee, soft drinks and snacks during each cruise. DJ Dick and Lori Nard will provide entertainment. Prizes and 50-50 raffles will also be available. All proceeds will benefit Hospice House of the Mahoning Valley.

Bone-marrow drive

A bone-marrow donor registry drive will be from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at St. Nicholas Church Hall, 762 Fifth St., to benefit Missy Ginnetti, who has stage 3 Hodgkin’s lymphoma and needs a stem-cell transplant. Potential donors will be screened through the use of a mouth swab. People age 18 to 44 may join a donor registry.
