Big Ten to stop scheduling FCS schools

In a move that has huge implications for Youngstown State, the Big Ten's athletic directors and presidents approved a scheduling model on Sunday that includes at least one team from a major FBS conference per year and no FCS teams.

Commissioner Jim Delany hopes the model will be in place league-wide by 2016.

YSU has played five games against Big Ten schools since 2004 and is scheduled to play at Michigan State this fall and at Illinois in 2014. The Penguins were planning to play at Ohio State in 2015 but nothing official has been announced.
