Sferra has heart attack
WARREN
Dan Sferra, Warren councilman and former mayor, suffered a heart attack Thursday morning at his home and underwent surgery that morning at ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for artery blockages.
He is doing well and is expected to be released from the hospital this weekend, said his wife, Deeanna. Sferra was elected councilman at-large in 2011 and was Warren mayor from 1980 to 1995.
He also served as a state representative and was on Warren City Council before becoming mayor.
Suspected meth lab found in Leavittsburg
LEAVITTSBURG
The Trumbull Ashtabula Group Law Enforcement Task Force and Trumbull County Sheriff’s Office found a suspected meth lab Thursday night while serving an arrest warrant at a mobile home on Park Drive.
Officers found the woman they had gone to arrest, but the woman and a man said the homeowner had left through the back door. When officers investigated, they found liquids, gas masks, unused lithium batteries, bottles of lye, muriatic acid and other items investigators believe were being used to make methamphetamine in an outbuilding.
The Warren Township Fire Department and Trumbull County Hazardous Material Unit assisted.
TAG is a multicounty crimes unit that focuses investigations on drug traffickers, firearm traffickers, gangs and homeland security.

Possible injury
WARREN
A 28-year-old Nevada Avenue Southwest man reported a possible internal injury after being robbed at gunpoint by two men while walking on West Market Street near Parkman Road at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The man said two males approached him, brandished a handgun and demanded money. One of the suspects reached into the victim’s pocket and removed cash and a phone, he said.
The report doesn’t say how he got injured.
