Pathologist in high-profile cases will speak at YSU

Cyril Wecht, a forensic pathologist who has been a consultant in high- profile cases ranging from Elvis Presley to John F. Kennedy, will speak Tuesday in Beeghly Center at Youngstown State University as part of the Alumni Lecture Series.

The lecture begins at 6:30 p.m., with networking starting at 5:30 p.m.

YSU faculty, staff, students and the community are welcome. The cost is $5 for Alumni Society members and $7 for non-members. Hors d’oeuvres are included. Reservations are required.

Wecht’s presentation will be titled “The Role of the Forensic Pathologist in Controversial Cases.” Wecht has appeared on nationally syndicated programs discussing various medico-legal and forensic scientific issues, including medical malpractice, drug abuse the assassinations of both President John F. Kennedy and Sen. Robert F. Kennedy, the death of Elvis Presley, the O.J. Simpson case and the JonBenet Ramsey case.

His expertise also has been used in high-profile cases involving Mary Jo Kopechne, Sunny von Bulow, Jean Harris, Dr. Jeffrey McDonald, the Waco Branch Davidian fire and Vincent Foster.
