POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty and Girard:

LIBERTY

April 20

Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a shed in the 700 block of Colonial Drive and stole numerous firearms and a coin collection estimated at $100,000, bringing the loss to $117,520.

Assault: A Colonial Drive woman told police she awoke to find her boyfriend on top of her and punching her left arm and torso multiple times.

Trespassing: A couple in the 6600 block of Sodom-Hutchings Road reported someone dumped a large quantity of branches on a piece of property they own in the 6100 block.

Theft: A $500, 20-inch racing bike was taken from a home in the 4000 block of Monticello Boulevard.

April 21

Arrest: An official with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources handed 40-year-old Wayne E. Smith to township police. Smith, of 1032 Patricia Drive, Girard, was wanted on charges of criminal trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Arrest: A traffic stop near Pleasant Valley and Oriel-Rogers roads led to a citation charging Benjamin R. Mackall, 25, of 1393 Stanley St., Girard, with operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft: A Hubbard man discovered his $200 cellphone missing after shopping at a Goldie Road store.

Arrest: Officers responded to a vehicle crash in a yard in the 200 block of East Montrose Street, where they cited William A. Dotson, 6300 South Ave., Boardman. The 65-year-old Dotson faced a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.

April 22

Identity fraud: A Trumbull Court woman told authorities she received a letter from the Internal Revenue Service stating she owed more than $1,500 for the 2011 tax year. The IRS later learned, however, that someone without authorization had used her information to file a return.

Arrest: Police at the Columbiana County jail took into custody 38-year-old Jajuan A. McKeithen, 1926 W. Midlothian Blvd., Youngstown, who was wanted on a probation-violation charge from Girard Municipal Court.

April 23

Arrest: Boardman police handed 67-year-old Rosemary E. Matasic, 735 S. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown, to township authorities. She was wanted on a warrant.

Menacing: A township woman said two people sent and made unwanted text messages and calls and showed up unannounced at her place of employment.

Assault: A Niles woman reported an East Liberty Street man purposely jolted her head back as she helped another person remove property from the man’s residence.

Trespassing: Officers responded to an unwanted person at a Mansell Drive home before charging 47-year-old Christine M. Chalker with criminal trespassing. Chalker, of 1173 McKinley St. NE, Warren, refused to leave and comply with police, a report said.

Arrest: Authorities went to Youngstown to arrest 25-year-old Shanise L. McGeorge, 3481 Briarwood Lane, Youngstown, on an outstanding Liberty warrant.

Menacing: A McDonald girl reported an 18-year-old Liberty man and two other people made and sent unwanted calls and text messages to her.

Possible identity fraud: A James Lane man reported suspicious activity pertaining to a $300 past-due loan in his name.

GIRARD

April 21

Arrest: Officers arrested 24-year-old Frank W. Prusky III at his residence, 425 North Ave., Girard, on a Mahoning County warrant.

April 22

Trespassing: A suspicious vehicle near railroad tracks off U.S. Route 422 led to a summons charging criminal trespassing against Mark A. Sigley, 37, of 3788 Kelly St., Mineral Ridge.

Theft: Someone entered a car in the 1100 block of Patricia Drive and took a wallet containing about $150.

Domestic violence: Kirk Corsale, 37, of 118 W. Howard St., Girard, was charged with the crime after his girlfriend alleged that during an argument about their daughter, Corsale threw ice water on the accuser and slapped her face.

Criminal mischief: Two BBs were fired through a window at a residence in the 400 block of Idaho Drive, for a damage estimate of $200.

Drugs: Police responded to a possible drug overdose in the 200 block of East Howard Street, where a woman was found on a porch. The woman’s boyfriend told authorities she had taken 20 Xanax pills and she was admitted to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown.

Breaking and entering: Police found an open rear door to a vacant home in the 500 block of East Prospect Street.

Theft: Roughly $75 was removed from two vending machines next to a business in the 50 block of West Liberty Street.

April 23

Criminal mischief: Someone spray-painted a derogatory word on the side of a residence in the 400 block of Parkview Drive.

Theft: An East Howard Street woman reported 60 Xanax pills stolen.

April 24

Criminal mischief: Two vehicles in the 800 block of North Highland Avenue were found with smashed rear windows. Damage came to $800.
