High school girls track falls to Jackson

The Boardman High School girls track team lost to Massillon Jackson 76-61 on April 16. Taking first-place honors for the team was the 4x800-meter relay team of Daisy Corso, Brandi Gatte, Trist Cunningham and Regan O’Hara in a season-best time of 10:09.7. Hope Landers won the 100 and 300-meter hurdles in a season-best of 16.9 in the 100s and 52.9 in the 300s. Morgan Hambrick won the high jump at 4-10. Nikki Hillard was first in the long jump with a season-best of 15-4. Senior Sarina Mauerman took the pole vault with a season-best of 10-0 and Giovanna Silvestri won the shot and discus, throwing 37-6 æ and 115-10, respectively.

Boys track loses to Warren

The BGMS boys track team lost to Warren 75-39 on April 17. Top performer for Glenwood was Nathaniel Ams, placing first in the 800-meter run and the 1600-meter run. Other top performers for Glenwood were Richard Fisher with his first place in the high jump and the 4x200-meter relay team’s first-place finish. The 4x200-meter relay team included Pierre Grizzard, Noah Falleti, Matt Hillard and Ethan Himes.

Girls track defeats Warren

The BGMS girls track team defeated Warren 63-51 on April 17. Logan Mitchell broke the long jump and high jump records with jumps of 15-3 and 5-0, respectively.

Other top performers placing first for Boardman were Makalay D’Eramo in the 100-meter hurdles, Riley Zawrotuk in the 200-meter hurdles and Gloria Hynes in the shot put. The 4x400-meter relay team of Mitchell, Cassie Stitt, Nadine Gabriel and Casey Zaitzew also placed first.

Boardman baseball loses to Hoover

The Boardman boys baseball team lost to North Canton Hoover 4-1 on April 17. Top performers for the Spartans were Eddie Crump (2-for-3), Steven Bott (2-for-3) and Nico Diianni (1-for-4). On the mound, Crump had one strikeout.

Benefit golf outing set

The Brett Wilcox benefit golf outing will be July 21 at Lakeside Golf Course. Shot gun start will begin at 9 a.m. The cost is $65 per golfer or $250 for a foursome. Cost includes coffee and doughnuts at registration, lunch, dinner and drinks. Sponsorships are available for $100 for a hole sponsor or $350 for a gold sponsor.

First place will receive $400 and second place $200. In addition, there will be a Chinese auction, 50/50 raffle and a 50-inch TV raffle.
