Curbside recycling back on schedule

Youngstown residents have been notified that curbside recycling services are back on schedule.

The Mahoning County Green Team asks that residents place recycling containers at the curb for their normal scheduled service date.

The work stoppage at Allied Waste/Republic Services is over, and normal operations resume today. Any individual whose recycling was missed last week is urged to visit one of the Green Team’s 37 recycling drop-off centers to leave material. The city of Youngstown’s sanitation is still on schedule.

Baby-sitter training will be offered

Boardman Park is offering its annual Spring Babysitter Training Class from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. May 4. Activities director Karen McCallum will present this year’s class at New Life Assembly of God, 2250 E. Western Reserve Road.

The course teaches boys and girls 11 to 15 years old everything from holding and comforting an infant to feeding, first aid, changing diapers and how to be safe in the home. The cost is $50 per participant.

Road work signs to be posted

ROGERS

Work zone signs are scheduled to be installed Monday on state Route 154 for a resurfacing project in Columbiana County. Work is expected to begin May 6 on about 6 miles of Route 154 from Rogers to the Pennsylvania state line. Traffic will be maintained with flaggers. ODOT’s contractor for the $1.9 million project is Shelly & Sands Inc. of Warren. Work is expected to be completed in November.

Pleads innocent to several charges

Jonathan R. Adams, 18, of the 4700 block of Durst Clagg Road, pleaded innocent Wednesday in Central District Court in Cortland to misdemeanor domestic violence, cultivation of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in connection with an incident at his home Wednesday.

Police said Adams, who family members said assaulted his father, was found in his bedroom. Police arrested him and found marijuana plants and a marijuana bong in the room. They confiscated the items.

The father had minor injuries to his face.
