NEWTON FALLS

The woman charged with engaging in prostitution at the Rose Spa, 4300 state Route 5 in Braceville Township, after an April 4 raid, has been convicted of a lesser offense.

Kyong Nyguyen, 56, of Sandpiper Trail Southeast in Warren, pleaded no contest Tuesday in Newton Falls Municipal Court to misdemeanor criminal trespassing.

She was ordered to pay a $500 fine and court costs.

She and Sun Chae, 69, also of the Sandpiper Trail address, were arrested after police searched the business and discovered evidence of prostitution, including a male customer from Mansfield engaged in a sex act with an employee.

Chae, who was the manager of the spa, will return to court May 5 for a hearing on her seven felony counts of promoting prostitution.

The owner of the spa, Ted Kolacz of Charlestown Road, Newton Falls, is due in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court on May 17 on a nuisance complaint filed by the county prosecutor’s office that seeks to close the business.

Police boarded up the building the day of the raid.
