A summary of recent criminal activity in Liberty and Girard; and Austintown and Canfield:

LIBERTY

April 12

Identity fraud: A Trumbull Court woman learned someone without authorization had used her personal information to file income-tax returns for 2010 to 2012.

Stolen property: Police received a call about someone taking manhole covers to Cleveland Auto Wrecking Inc., 2700 Youngstown-Hubbard Road, where they filed misdemeanor charges of receiving stolen property against Nakeia L. Hall, 30, of 167 Lauderdale Ave.; Latonya R. Chism, 33, of 1515 Hickory Ave.; Joseph Austin, 39, of 1387 Wright Drive; and Timothy L. Morris, 42, of 720 Kendis Circle, all of Youngstown. An investigation revealed the covers had been stolen in the city, and Morris admitted the thefts, a report said.

Arrest: Leticia Dejesus, 20, of 1538 Cedar Lane, Liberty, was taken into custody in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue. She was accused of failing to appear in court to face a theft charge.

April 13

Theft: Police cited 21-year-old Ryan R. Gibson, 1465 Townsend Ave., Liberty, on a charge of complicity to theft after a jar of money was stolen from the Mega Internet Cafe, 1482 W. Liberty St. Gibson intentionally acted erratically as a diversionary tactic to distract an employee so the theft could occur, a report showed.

Arrest: Officers in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue took custody of 19-year-old Desuan T. Williams, 962 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Youngstown, who was wanted on a theft count.

Citation: Emmett B. Williams, 58, of 528 Brookfield Ave., Masury, was cited on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired on state Route 193.

Arrest: Youngstown police relinquished custody of Ross D. Deweese of 1485 County Line Road, Mineral Ridge. The 23-year-old Deweese was wanted on a charge of failure to appear in court.

Robbery: Police charged 59-year-old Jesse Cooper, 3021 Frederick St., Liberty, with robbery after $50 worth of cigarettes was stolen from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road.

Arrest: Austintown police handed 28-year-old Rashad Adams to township authorities. Adams, of 516 W. Princeton Ave., Youngstown, was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant charging failure to appear in court.

April 14

Arrest: Lisa M. Wilson, 40, of 340 E. Kline St., Girard, was arrested on a warrant charging theft and receiving stolen property as authorities dealt with a dispute in the 100 block of Warner Road.

Arrest: Thomas C. Ruby, 59, was taken into custody in the 2700 block of Belmont Avenue. Ruby, of 542 N. Dunlap Ave., Youngstown, was accused of failing to appear in court.

Theft: A Niles woman noticed her purse had been removed from her car in the 200 block of Goldie Road.

Arrest: An erratic driver near Logan Way caught officers’ attention before they pulled over and arrested 27-year-old Robert C. Nicholson, 6301 Morningside Drive, Hubbard. He was charged with operating a vehicle impaired.

April 15

Arrest: Police responded to a vehicular accident on Oriel-Rogers Road, where they charged 55-year-old Jo E. Foltz, 1719 Pleasant Valley Road, Girard, with operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft: Two men stole a $200 laptop computer from Ambassador Technologies, 3622 Belmont Ave., before fleeing in a tan Dodge vehicle.

Arrest: Anthony W. Cheshire, 32, of 748 Caledonia St., Youngstown, was arrested at the Mahoning County jail. Cheshire was wanted on an outstanding township warrant.

Identity fraud: An elderly Liberty Avenue man trying to file his income-tax return found out someone else had done so in a fraudulent manner.

Employee theft: A surveillance camera reportedly caught a worker for a Wendy’s restaurant, 4001 Belmont Ave., stealing an undisclosed sum of money from a drawer in an office.

April 16

Arrest: Police at the Mahoning County jail picked up 41-year-old Robert T. Courtney, 900 Andrews Ave., Youngstown, who was wanted on a township warrant charging failure to appear in court.

Theft: Two men took a $1,200 AM/FM/compact-disc and DVD system from Jensen Lock & Alarm, 3075 Belmont Ave.

GIRARD

April 13

Theft: A $1,440 lawn tractor was taken from a garage in the 70 block of Mosier Road.

Criminal mischief: A bedroom window was damaged in the 700 block of North Avenue.

April 14

Theft: A $5,000 air-conditioning unit was removed from a residence in 400 block of Trumbull Avenue.

Arrest: Anthony Kornegay was taken into custody at his home, 443 E. Liberty St., Girard. Kornegay, 19, was wanted on a charge of failure to comply with a court order.

Assault: A man helping a Hazel Street woman paint her home reported the woman’s estranged husband attacked the accuser by striking his face several times.

Theft: A woman discovered a bottle of 40 pills was stolen from a cabinet in her East Kline Street residence.

Arrest: Patricia A. Reed, 66, of 711 St. Clair Ave., Girard, was taken into custody. She was wanted on a warrant charging disorderly conduct.

April 15

Arrest: Officers arrested 42-year-old Mark A. Molek at his residence, 248 E. Liberty St., Girard, on a warrant.

Harassment: Two East Liberty Street men reported an acquaintance made a series of threatening and vulgar calls to them.

Criminal mischief: A truck was driven through and damaged part of a lawn near Hazel and North State streets.

Breaking and entering: Someone cut a hole in a fence and entered Summit Supply & Storage, 1715 N. State St., then discarded various items from a box truck on the property.

Theft: An Otis Court woman reported her son’s $200 cellphone was taken from his backpack.

Criminal mischief: A BB gun was used to shoot and do $500 in damage to a window in the 200 block of North State Street.

CANFIELD CITY

April 4

Phone harassment: A report of phone harassment was made at a home in the 300 block of Overbrook Drive.

Identity fraud: Bryan Clark, 19, of 8300 Columbiana-Canfield Road, Canfield was accused of identity fraud.

April 6

Theft: Richard Hall, 49, of 7815 Akron-Canfield Road,Room 21, Canfield was arrested on a theft charge.

April 8

Drug abuse: Arin Grimm, 18; Erin Quinn, 19; and Samantha Summers, 19; all of New Martinsvile, W.Va. were accused of drug abuse after police found marijuana in a vehicle.

April 11

Barking dog: Frank Kalan, 64, of 514 Hickory Hollow, Canfield was cited for a barking or howling dog.

AUSTINTOWN

April 8

Theft: A wallet was stolen from a truck at Club 76, 5335 Seventy-Six Drive.

Lost or stolen property: Keys were lost or stolen at a home in the 4000 block of S. Raccoon Road.

Theft: Jewelry was taken from a home in the 1000 block of Laurelwood Place.

Telecommunications harassment: A woman reported receiving unwanted calls at an apartment in the 1000 block of Compass West Drive.

Domestic violence: Daniel Verdinek, 27, of 1456 Maplewood Drive was arrested on a domestic violence charge.

April 9

Theft: A woman reported a theft at Subway, 825 N.Canfield-Niles Road.

Burglary: Copper pipe was taken from a home in the 100 block of S. Main St.

Breaking and entering: Money was taken at a home in the 400 block of North Raccoon Road.

Attempted felonious assault: A 16-year-old was arrested for attempted felonious assault at a home in the 1000 block of N. Roanoke Avenue.

Recovered property: Two debit/credit cards were recovered at Dollar General,1739 S. Raccoon Road.

Assault: A male and a female are suspects in an assault at Mike’s Lounge, 5532 Mahoning Ave.

Burglary: Minor damage was done to two screens, but no entry was gained at an apartment in the 1000 block of Compass West.

April 10

Fraud: An unauthorized charge was made to an account at a home in the 5000 block of Stanford Avenue.

Identity theft: A victim’s Social Security number was used to open an account at a home in the 1000 block of Maplecrest Drive.

Breaking and entering: Copper was stolen from a vacant house in the 3000 block of Cannon Road.

Theft: Robert Purfey, 70, of 6300 South Ave., Boardman was issued a summons for theft at Sheetz gas station, 5499 Mahoning Ave.

April 11

Criminal damaging: Damage to two windows and boxes of floor tiles was done at a home in the 200 block of Idaho Road.

Fraud: Unauthorized charges to a victim’s account were reported at a home in the 1000 block of Birch Trace Drive.

Warrant: Daniel Pahel, 53, of 2446 Amberly Ave., Youngstown was arrested on a warrant for domestic violence.

Robbery: Marius Fanea, 35, of 6919 Glenwood Ave., Boardman was accused of robbery at Kmart, 4475 Mahoning Ave. after an employee was pepper sprayed. Taken was a First Alert cash and key safe worth $13.99 and two bottles of Krazy Glue, valued at $2.89 each.

Theft: An ATM card was taken and used from a home in the 4000 block of Nantucket Drive.

April 12

Criminal damaging: Damage to paint from a sharp object was reported at an apartment in the 1000 block of Compass West.

Theft: A purse and contents were stolen from an apartment in the 1000 block of Compass West.

Drug offense: Jason Burlingham, 25, of Andover, was arrested on a charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana.

Theft: Carol Welsh, 50, of 1414 Fifth Ave., Youngstown was arrested in the theft of $37.22 in merchandise at Walmart,6001 Mahoning Ave.

April 13

Drug offense: Seth Manda, 21, of 5375 East Drive,Niles, was issued a summons for possession of marijuana.

Theft: Dena Wright, 37,of 1147 Waverly Place, Youngstown was issued a summons for theft of $31.75 in merchandise at Dollar General, 1739 S. Raccoon Road.

Drug offense: Marcus Washington, 19, of 1960 McClure Ave., Youngstown was issued a summons for possession of dangerous drugs, four Tramadol.

Disorderly conduct: Michellelynn Gallagher, 39, of 4711 Woodhurst Drive, Apt. 7 was issued a summons for domestic violence.

April 14

Criminal trespass: Timothy Menton, 31, 578 Woodside Drive, Youngstown was issued a summons for criminal trespass in the 1000 block of Compass West.

Theft: Change and a radar detector were taken from an auto at BW3, 6000 Mahoning Ave.

Telecommunications harassment: A woman reported being harassed by phone at a home in the 6000 block of Winter Ridge Court.

Burglary: A jar of change, and an Xbox, and accessories were stolen from an apartment in the 400 block of S. Raccoon Road.

Warrant: Elijah Jackson, 28, of 1486 Woodcrest Ave., Youngstown was arrested on two warrants for failure to appear on both assault and criminal damaging.

Theft: Medicine was stolen at a home in the 4000 block of Burkey Road.
