YSU Relay nets nearly $38K

YOUNGSTOWN

The 29 teams and 247 participants of this year’s Relay for Life of Youngstown raised nearly $38,000 for the American Cancer Society in an event Friday.

The teams met at Youngstown State University’s Beeghly Center, where they gathered together to raise $37,694.19, according to the Relay for Life website.

Top teams at the event were the St. Charles Student Council, which raised $7,778; Lockwood United Methodist Church, which raised $3,758; and North Jackson Family Dentistry, which raised $2,570. Sigma Alpha Lambda Youth Affiliate was the top company, raising $390.

Top individual participants were Michelle Sidoti, who raised $634; Thomas “Massey” Fowler, who raised $595; and Dave Sisk, who raised $550, according to the Relay website.

Relay for Life will have more events in the area including: on Warren Courthouse Square, May 10-11; Churchill Park in Liberty, May 17-18; Austintown Fitch High School stadium, June 7-8, Lakeview High School stadium in Cortland, June 7-8; and Newton Falls High School stadium, June 14-15.
