A 50-year-old man staying with a friend on West Princeton Avenue told police he was kidnapped and beaten late Wednesday, taken to a home on Ravenwood Avenue and placed in a dog kennel in the basement.

The man said he escaped from the house, which is near Rush Boulevard, and went to JQ’s Quick Shop on South Avenue Thursday afternoon to call police.

The man said three men in their 20s in a pickup truck abducted him at 10:30 p.m. after breaking into the house.

They took his cell phone and accused him of stealing $23,000 in drug money.

They also tried to drown him in the bathtub at the Ravenwood house, he said.

The man went to St. Elizabeth Health Center for treatment of his injuries.
