Canfield student earns leadership award

Canfield senior Abby Baker was recently selected as the recipient of the “Young Women With Bright Future” award.

This award, sponsored by the YWCA, honors young women for their qualities in leadership, cooperation, volunteerism and scholarship. Baker is one of 28 young women representing all the Mahoning Valley high schools and will formally be recognized at an awards ceremony March 9.

Baker is president of Young Leaders/Y-teens, a four-year letterwinner on the Canfield basketball and softball teams. She plans to attend college and major in political science or physical therapy, along with extending her athletic career in either softball or basketball or both.

She is the daughter of Kirk and Lisa Baker.
