Reducing energy consumption program

The Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership (MYCAP) receives funds through multiple programs, including the Electric Partnership Program and Community Connection, with which to help eligible Mahoning County homeowners to reduce energy consumption and cut their bills.

Under the program, energy auditors visit homes to make sure their electrical appliances are energy-efficient and replace, at no-cost, old light bulbs with new compact fluorescent bulbs.

Better hearing promo

Drs. Eric N. Hagberg and Audra N. Brooks of Hearing Innovations are offering speaking engagements on the importance of protecting, preserving and promoting the benefits of better hearing to local social clubs, community organizations, businesses and neighborhood associations in anticipation of National Better Hearing Month this May.

Boardman High School Cardio-Phlebotomy

BOARDMAN

The Ohio Valley College of Technology has opened its Boardman Healthcare Training Center on the campus of Boardman High School. Students may complete a Cardio-Phlebotomy Program in 25 weeks leading to two nationally recognized certifications upon graduation: Certified Phlebotomy Technician and Certified EKG Technician.

Two grants for Help Hotline Crisis Center

YOUNGSTOWN

Help Hotline Crisis Center Inc. received two grants under the Youngstown Foundation: $13,437 for upgrades to the computer software program in the 24/7 hot line to develop a paperless system and improve capacity to service more callers; and $34,500, from the Hine Memorial Fund, to fund a special program that provides information, referral and support to families with children with special needs.
