Swallowed ring is recovered by police in New Hampshire

MANCHESTER, N.H.

Police say they have the $3,200 engagement ring a New Hampshire man reportedly swallowed during an attempted jewelry store theft.

Authorities charged 52-year-old Ronald Perley with theft and falsifying physical evidence after they say X-rays showed the 14-karat white-gold ring with princess-cut diamonds inside him.

WMUR-TV reported that Manchester police had recovered the ring as of Saturday.

Perley reportedly went into Bellman’s Jewelers last Thursday asking about engagement rings. Workers said he grabbed a ring then swallowed it after being confronted.

Police say surveillance footage shows Perley taking the ring and putting his hand to his mouth.

Perley was being held on $50,000 bail. It’s not clear if he has an attorney.

Police cite Pa. woman for calling 911 seeking divorce

GIRARD, Pa.

Police have cited a 42-year-old Pennsyl-vania woman with disorderly conduct after she called 911 requesting a divorce and police assistance to make her husband leave.

Troopers say the woman called just after 1 a.m. Saturday asking that officers be sent to her home in Girard Township in northwestern Pennsylvania.

Police say they explained to the woman, whom they did not identify, that a divorce is a civil matter and that they could not make her husband leave the residence because no crime had been committed.

Instead, police have cited the woman for disorderly conduct and misusing the Erie County 911 system.

Maine restaurant to serve up $40K cocktail for anniversary

PORTLAND, Maine

An upscale Maine restaurant is offering the ultimate cocktail at the ultimate price.

Beginning June 1, The White Barn Inn in Kennebunk will start selling the Ruby Rose cocktail, a concoction with a 4-carat ruby and a $40,000 price tag.

Matthew Swinford, the maitre d’hotel, told the Portland Press Herald that the inn is marking its 40th anniversary, and ruby is the gemstone for a 40th wedding anniversary.

Swinford says for certain guests, price isn’t an issue — it’s the experience that counts.

Besides the ruby, the drink is made with Hangar 1 Vodka, St. Germain elderflower liqueur, fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice, pomegranate and a spoonful of rosewater.

For those who want the drink without a precious stone, it’ll cost $18.
