Stubborn spring storm hits Colo., Wyo. and Dakotas

DENVER (AP) — Skiers are rejoicing and stores are pulling snowblowers out of storage as a persistent spring storm delivers yet another round of wet snow to parts of Wyoming, Colorado and the Dakotas.

Slick conditions and reduced visibility closed stretches of two interstates in Wyoming and Colorado today and sent Rapid City, S.D., students home early. The storm is causing Denver flight delays averaging just under two hours on the third straight day of the storm.

The storm has already dumped up to 3 feet of snow in Colorado’s mountains and isn’t expected to move out into Kansas and Nebraska until the evening.

Snowpack levels have usually peaked by this time but the critical Colorado Basin has grown to 85 percent of the average peak amount after a relatively dry winter.
