R.I., Ky., Pa. candidates finalists for YSU president

YOUNGSTOWN

The search committee for a new Youngstown State University president recommended the chief financial officer of the Rhode Island School of design; the president of a Kentucky university and the vice chancellor for academic and student affairs of the Pennsylvania System of Higher Education as finalists for YSU president.

The 17-member committee presented its recommendations to YSU trustees at a meeting.

Cynthia E. Anderson, president since 2010, is retiring June 30 at the end of her current contract.

The finalists are William R. Decatur, CFO and treasurer of the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence; Randy Dunn, president of Murray State University in Murray, Ky; and James D. Moran III, vice chancellor, Harrisburg, Pa.

Each of them is to visit campus either late this month or in early May, meeting with different groups.

Trustees expect to vote on the new president — YSU's eighth by the June board meeting.
