The front doors at Life Skills Center on Market Street remained covered in plywood and the building closed late Monday after someone crashed into the front of the building early Sunday. The driver of a 2001 Toyota Avalon crashed into the front of the building, in the 3400 block of Market Street, around 5 a.m. Sunday. The driver fled the scene after the accident.

There is no word on whether the school will be open today.

Conference planned

“Strengthening the Family” is the theme of a conference planned May 17 and 18 by Teen Straight Talk at the Magnuson Grand Hotel (formerly Avalon Inn), 9519 E. Market St. Bishop Joey Johnson, senior pastor of the House of the Lord in Akron, will be keynote speaker. He is a Bible scholar, conference speaker and workshop facilatator. He authored “God is Greater than Family Mess.” Bishop Johnson will speak after dinner at 6 p.m. May 17. There will be break-out sessions starting at 8 a.m. May 18. Free movie night

Mercer, Pa.

The Mercer County Conservation District is having a free movie night from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Pig Barn at Munnell Run Farm, 24 Avalon Court, Suite 300. The film, “Winged Migrations,” highlights bird migrations from around the world. Preregister by calling Jacqueline McCullough at 724-662- 2242. Popcorn and refreshments will be provided. Donations will go toward future environmental education programs.
