Pre-applications for Appalachian grant program available

The Eastgate Regional Council of Governments is accepting pre-applications for the FY14 Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) grant program. To receive a pre-application booklet, contact Kathy Zook at 330-779-3800.

Projects funded under this program must meet one or more of these goals: Increase job opportunities and per capita income in Appalachia to reach parity with the nation, strengthen the capacity of the people of Appalachia to compete in the global economy, develop and improve Appalachia’s infrastructure to make the region economically competitive, or build the Appalachian Development Highway System to reduce Appalachia’s isolation.

Eligible applicants include political subdivisions, educational institutions, public institutions, and nonprofit organizations.

Examples of types of projects eligible for funding include water and sewer improvements, help communities develop an educated, skilled workforce, and funds available for projects that help communities create and retain businesses and jobs.

Pre-applications are due at the Eastgate office no later than 3 p.m. May 13.
