Foundation to sponsor 2014 Gay Games in Cleveland

CLEVELAND

The Cleveland Foundation has become a presenting sponsor of the 2014 Gay Games in Cleveland.

The foundation awarded a $250,000 grant to the games last week.

The games will be Aug. 9-16, 2014, and are expected to attract 30,000 visitors, including 11,000 participants.

The foundation says the grant is meant to express support for social justice and equality for the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community.

As part of its backing, the foundation plans to establish a legacy fund what will be involved in gay initiatives.

Cleveland won the 2014 Gay Games over cities including Boston and Washington, D.C.
