Weathersfield fire levy

One 2.5-mill continuous levy to generate $346,811 annually for the fire department. it would replace three other continuous levies that now generate $175,874:

0.7-mill levy, first passed in 1993.

1-mill levy, first passed in 1984.

1-mill levy, first passed in 1986.

The cost of the new levy to a homeowner of the median cost in Weathersfield of $84,500 would be $35 more a year in taxes.

The owner of a $100,000 house would pay $42 more a year.

The department has 40 volunteer firefighters, who are paid $10.50 per call. Medical calls are done on a volunteer basis due to funding cuts.
