The Ohio State Fire Marshal’s office is investigating a Saturday afternoon blaze that destroyed a township house and barn and is trying to determine the fate of a man who threatened suicide.
The fire was reported after a man who lived at the home at 4894 North Park Ave. N.E. had threatened to kill himself.
The man hadn’t been located Saturday night and his cellular phone was either turned off or not functioning. No one else was injured.
Calls to Trumbull County 911 began at about 3:15 p.m. with reports of flames coming out of the roof of a barn at 4894 North Park Ave. N.E. One caller reported explosions coming from the barn.
A female caller told 911 dispatchers that she told her husband, 53, that she wanted a divorce and he texted her, threatening suicide.
Steve Sabulsky, a Trumbull County deputy sheriff, said when the first officer arrived on the scene, he heart gunshots.
