Emily Anne Semrau and Thomas James Thompson Jr., both of Erie, Pa., were united in marriage during a 1 p.m. Feb. 9 ceremony at St. George Roman Catholic Church in Erie. The Rev. Mike Polinek officiated.

The couple were honored at a reception at Caper’s Reception Hall in Erie.

Parents of the bride are Carol Semrau and Jeffrey and Betty Lou Semrau, all of Erie. The groom’s parents are Thomas and Rosanne Thompson of Boardman.

After a wedding trip to Savannah, Ga., the couple reside in Erie.

The maid of honor was Brooke Honard. Gift bearers were Aiden Bowes, nephew of the bride, and Logan and Jayden Knapp, nephew and niece of the groom.

The groom’s brother-in-law, Randy Knapp, performed the duties of best man. Adam Semrau, the brother of the bride, was an usher.

The bride earned a bachelor’s degree in history of art and architecture from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a financial-aid counselor at the Behrend College at Penn State, Erie.

The groom received a bachelor’s degree in computer science from Youngstown State University. He is a systems administrator at Mercyhurst University in Erie.
