Trash pickup back
Trash pickup back
youngstown
Republic Services/Allied Waste sought to reassure customers Monday that their trash will be picked up in a timely manner this week, after a strike that started Thursday left trash on the curbside for the better part of four days.
A company spokesman said the company worked through the Easter holiday and finished picking up leftover trash Sunday. Republic now is back on a normal schedule after utilizing nonunion employees and regional supervisors, who will continue to serve more than 100,000 customers throughout the Mahoning Valley and parts of Pennsylvania until the strike is resolved with Teamsters Local 377. If you still need trash pickup, the company is encouraging customers to call 800-437-1123
Approximately 103 employees went on strike last week, citing unfair labor practices and a stalemate in contract negotiations. The next negotiating session between the company and the union is set for next Tuesday.
