Valley chefs to get cooking at Goodness Grows benefit

Eight local chefs will capture the flavors of the season at Harvest of Hope 2012 from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Common Ground Church Community.

They will feature local, seasonal food in this fund-raising event for Goodness Grows, the congregation’s agricultural outreach organization.

The event also will have live music.

Goodness Grows works through on-site growing areas in the Youngstown area to seek transformation of individuals and neighborhoods through agriculture.

Proceeds from the evening will pay for new farm-training efforts for socially disadvantaged people, as well as improving greenhouses and exploring new techniques for sustainable agriculture in urban and rural areas of the Mahoning Valley.

Admission is by reservation only, at $15 per person and $25 with a guest. Checks are payable to Goodness Grows at 2310 W. South Range Road, North Lima OH 44452, the former Mellinger’s Nursery garden center. For information call 330-549-9408.
