Stand against domestic violence, wear purple Friday

NEW CASTLE, Pa.

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, and the occasion is acknowledged by wearing purple. The color is meant to be a symbol of peace, courage, survival, honor and dedication to ending violence.

The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County invites the community to join in the “Fight for Zero” victims of violence and abuse by wearing purple Friday . The gesture is meant to show support and convey a message that there is no place for domestic violence in any homes, neighborhoods, workplaces or schools.

Any participants are urged to send photos of their purple ensembles to mhagele@crisisshelter.org, so that the organization may post them on their website, www.crisisshelter.org.
