v “Women of Lockerbie,” 7:30 p.m.: Youngstown Playhouse opens its 2012-13 season with a play inspired by the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. The play continues Saturday and Oct. 5 and 6. For tickets, call 330-788-8739.

v Trumbull Art Gallery, 4 p.m.: The tribute to master gardeners, who have a conference, will include a reception at 4 p.m. at the TAG Gallery, 196-198 E. Market St., Warren. “A garden like no other” will be featured from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday in the gallery.

Grand opening

Liberty Comics, 4686 Belmont Ave., will host its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday at its location inside the Church Hill Commons Plaza, next to Giant Eagle.

The event will feature local artist and comic writer Chris Yambar, who will autograph copies of the new “Simpsons Tree House of Horror No. 18,” which features a parody of Bartman as the Dark Knight fighting his way through Springfield Asylum. He also will be signing copies of his other comic titles while supplies last from noon to 5 p.m.

Postgame festivities

The Youngstown Phantoms will sponsor postgame festivities for the opening weekend of the 2012-13 season today and Saturday.

Fans are encouraged to celebrate at the inaugural Phantom Phest, which is in tribute to the downtown revival.

Fans attending either of the games will receive coupon booklets with food and beverage specials from downtown restaurants and bars. The Phantoms will sponsor a fireworks show Sarturday night by Phantom Fireworks.

YSU schedules dance festival

Youngstown State University’s Department of Theater and Dance will host a dance festival starting at 8:30 a.m. Sunday in Beeghly Physical Education Center.

The workshop is open to individuals from 13 years through adult. Cost is $40 and includes four master classes and an informal concert with performances by guest artists.
