PLAYERS OF THE WEEK || Leko, Utley

ZAK LEKO

LISBON

Player fact: Sidelined with a concussion in week 4, Zak Leko exploded for 234 rushing yards in last week’s 48-34 win over Jackson-Milton. He also had two touchdowns. Leko started the season at quarterback for the Blue Devils, but will be in the backfield for the remainder of the season. To date, he has 429 yards and Lisbon is off to its best start in six years.

Quotable: “We prepared hard and earned the win. We actually look forward to practice now. It’s more fun. Students are getting on board. I definitely didn’t expect the big game. The line and the fullback did a great job blocking and I followed them through the holes...It really doesn’t matter [what position I play] as long as we win.”

BO UTLEY

WEST BRANCH

Player fact: Bo Utley is one of the most feared defenders in the Northeastern Buckeye Conference. The Warriors’ senior captain is averaging 14 tackles per game and had 15 in last week’s 13-7 win over previously unbeaten Carrollton. Utley also had a sack and four quarterback rushes. After starting the year 0-3, West Branch has rallied for two straight wins.

Quotable: “I came in ready to give it all I’ve got. Really, it was all a team effort. We don’t focus on one person it’s the whole team doing their work. We focused on the run and stopped them. It always helps our spirits knocking off an undefeated team. But we don’t get big heads and we come back down to earth and ready to win this week.”
