Dispose of unwanted drugs Saturday at 7 sites in Mahoning Co.

Staff report

Several sites in Mahoning County are available for residents to dispose of expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs during Saturday’s National Drug Take Back event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The service is free and anonymous.

Syringes, liquids or medical waste cannot be disposed of during the event sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and community partners.

Unused medications should not be flushed down the toilet or poured down a sink or drain. That could cause medications or their by-products to end up in waterways where they may be harmful to the environment, according to the Mahoning County District Board of Health.
