West Boardman Street between Hazel Street and Vindicator Square will be closed from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today for the National Additive Manufacturing Innovation Institute grand opening ceremony.

Food giveaway

Exit ramp to close

NORTH JACKSON

Beginning today, the exit ramp from the Ohio Turnpike to Interstate 76 westbound in Jackson Township will be closed for 21 days.

Turnpike motorists will detour via the Mahoning Avenue exit.

This work is part of $2 million project for pavement repairs and drainage improvements on I-76 between the turnpike and state Route 45.

The entire project is scheduled to be complete by late November.

Special meeting

Struthers

The Struthers school board will have a special meeting at 5 p.m. today at the board office, 99 Euclid Ave. The purpose of the meeting is to conduct interviews for the superintendent position.

Fall cleanup event

The Historic Perkins Homestead Neighborhood Association will host a fall cleanup event at 9 a.m. Saturday. Those interested are asked to meet at the corner of Belmont and Mahoning avenues.

Bags, gloves, rakes and brooms will be available. Hot dogs and soft drinks will be provided.

Free presentation

YOUNGSTOWN

Dr. Charles Wilkins will have a presentation, “Aging Perspective,” at 2 p.m. today in the Park Vista East Therapy Gym, 1216 Fifth Ave. Dr. Wilkins, director of the geriatric assessment unit at St. Elizabeth Health Center, is board certified in internal and geriatric medicine. His free presentation will discuss the importance of remaining active through the aging process.

Annual Unity Day

Someplace Safe’s 18th Annual Unity Day will be at 7 p.m. Monday at Courthouse Square. Those in attendance can mourn, celebrate and connect at the evening event marking the start of Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Someplace Safe is a private nonprofit agency that provides 24-hour emergency shelter and crisis intervention to victims of domestic violence and their dependent children.
