Proposals presented to install traffic cameras in Youngstown school zones
YOUNGSTOWN — City officials received proposals from three companies to install traffic cameras to fine those who violate vehicular laws in school zones.
City council’s safety committee heard today from police Chief Rod Foley and Deputy Law Director Anthony Donofrio, deputy law director, about the possibility of getting cameras, something discussed by city officials for three years.
The three companies that submitted proposals to install and monitor the cameras are: Redflex Traffic Systems of Phoenix, American Traffic Solutions of Tempe, Ariz., and B&W Sensors LLC of St. Louis.
Safety-committee members plan to invite representatives from the three companies to a meeting in the next 30 days to discuss the proposals.
