Family events slated Friday through Sunday in Greenville, Pa.


GREENVILLE, PA. — River meets the road in a weekend of fun and fitness Friday through Sunday in Greenville.

Mercer County Trails Association and Shenango River Watchers have teamed up to offer a weekend filled with camping, bicycle tours, a river excursion, music, food, and fun for the entire family.

Participants begin the weekend by camping Friday evening in Riverside Park, located along the Shenango River right in the heart of Greenville near the YMCA, 45 Alan Ave.

Participants are invited by Thiel College to enjoy a free concert by Chris Kegle and fireworks at Thiel College Alumni Stadium, located within walking distance from the park.

Registration for Pedal the Lakes bicycle tour takes place from 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday just north of Riverside Park at the Greenville Sports Complex, located by map at 262 Porter Road, Greenville. There is a registration fee and T-shirts are available.

Sunday’s Paddle Fest of “seven gentle miles,” also sponsored by Jamestown and Greenville Lions clubs, will begin in Riverside Park. Shuttle service will be provided and there is a registration fee per craft.
