Liberty Comics event

YOUNGSTOWN

Liberty Comics, 4686 Belmont Ave., will host its grand opening from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. The event will feature local artist and comic writer Chris Yambar, who will sign copies of the new “Simpsons Tree House of Horror No. 18,” which has a parody of Bartman as the Dark Knight fighting his way through Springfield Asylum. He will sign copies of his other comic titles while supplies last from noon to 5 p.m.

The business is in the Church Hill Commons Plaza, next to Giant Eagle.

Business expo set

NORTH LIMA

The North Lima Business and Shopping Complex is having a business and community expo Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The event is designed to support local businesses and craft makers. The complex is in the former South Range High School at 11836 South Ave. in North Lima.

Air-quality issues

YOUNGSTOWN

Dr. Deborah R. Cowden of Loudonville will speak Friday about air-quality issues related to oil and gas from noon to 1 p.m. at Kilcawley Center’s Ohio Room at Youngstown State University.

Cowden will provide an overview of scientific literature and research that focuses on these public health risks. Cowden has been a board-certified familySFlbmedicine practitioner sinceSFlb1996, working on several U.S. Air Force bases and in rural Ohio. She is president of the Greene County Medical Society in Greene County, Ohio.

Groundwater testing

New groundwater testing in Wyoming shows much lower levels of the carcinogen benzene than what the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reported when it linked contaminants in two water wells to hydraulic fracturing.

Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead said Wednesday that the state still needs to review theSFlbdata from the U.S. Geological Survey, but he praised the new tests as an improvement over last year’s EPA reports.
