FOOD SALES AND DINNERS


WEDNESDAY

Boar’s Head Ladies of St. John’s Episcopal Church, 323 Wick Ave., will serve a chicken dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at the church. The meal consists of chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, salad, bread and butter, pie and a beverage. Cost is $7. No reservations are necessary. THURSDAY

Col. Louis J. Campbell VFW Post 3538, 157 Lowellville Road, Struthers, will serve spaghetti dinners from 4 to 7 p.m. Meals will include meatballs, salad, bread and butter, and coffee. Cost is $6.50 for adults and $3 for children under 8. Carryout orders are $7 and will be available only until 6 p.m. Containers will be provided.

FRIDAY

Holy Trinity Church, 250 Bridge St., Struthers, will sell potato, cabbage and lekvar pirogi. Orders will be taken from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday and from 8 to 11 a.m. Friday at 330-755-0064. No walk-in orders will be accepted. There is a limit of three dozen cabbage pirogi while supplies last. Orders may be picked up from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Containers will be provided.

Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird Ave., will serve fish dinners from 3:30 to 7 p.m. at the church hall. The menu will consist of baked or fried Icelandic cod or fried haddock; sides of Spanish rice, haluski, macaroni and cheese, french fries or string beans (choose two); coleslaw or applesauce; bread and butter; and coffee or tea. The cost is $10 for adults and $5 for children. Dessert will be an additional $1.50. Containers will be provided for takeouts. Orders will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at 330-792-1005.

Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church Hall, 526 W. Rayen Ave., will sell potato and potato with kraut pirogi for $6 a dozen. Orders should be placed from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday or 9:30 to 11 Friday at 330-746-9528, and are to be picked up between 10 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday. Hot lunches will be available beginning at 11 a.m. Friday.

St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 4310 Kirk Road, Austintown, will sell potato and cheese pirogi. To order call 330-799-0084 from 8:30 a.m. to noon Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Pickup will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday. Cost is $6 for a baker’s dozen (no containers necessary). Walk-ins are welcome. Patrons are asked to use the side entrance.

St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 159 Reed Ave. Campbell, will sell homemade haluski to be picked up from 10 a.m. to noon at the church hall. The donation is $5 a quart. Call in orders today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. To order call 330-755-0036 or 330-755-4141.

St. Joseph the Provider Church, 633 Porter Ave., Campbell, will sell potato, prune and kraut pirogi. Cost is $5 a dozen. Phone orders may be made beginning at 8 a.m. at 330-755-1316, and orders can be picked up beginning at noon. A limited supply of frozen pirogi will be available. Patrons are asked to provide their own containers. No walk-in orders will be available.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, will sell potato, sweet cabbage and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Orders can be called to 330-542-3525 from 7 to 11 a.m. Thursday and Friday. Pickup will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday. Walk-ins are welcome.

St. Stanislaus Church, 430 Williamson Ave., will sell potato, kraut and cottage cheese pirogi for $5.50 a dozen. Pirogi lunches will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Advance orders will be taken at 330-747-3024 from 8:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday and 8 to 11 Friday, based upon availability. Pickup will be from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday; walk-in orders will be available.

SATURDAY

Braceville United Methodist Church, 577 Park Road SW, Newton Falls, will serve a stuffed pork chop dinner at 4 p.m. until the food runs out. Dinner consists of mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, coleslaw, applesauce, homemade desserts, bread, coffee, tea or punch. The cost is $9 for adults and $3.50 for children. Takeouts are available.

North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, is offering an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet from 7 to 10 a.m. Donations will be accepted. Items consist of eggs, pancakes, French toast, sausage, potatoes, homemade rolls, sausage gravy and biscuits, peppers and onions, coffee, orange juice and other beverages. Stoneboro United Methodist Church, 32 Lake St., will have a community wiener roast at 6 p.m.

SUNDAY

Christ, the Good Shepherd at St. Lucy Church, 394 Tenney Ave., Campbell, will serve a handmade spaghetti dinner from noon to 4 p.m. in the Palermo Banquet Center at the church. Meals are $8 for adults and $4 for children under 12. Takeouts are available in the church basement until 3:30 p.m. Take containers or they can be purchased for 50 cents each.

St. Paul the Apostle Church, Route 170, New Middletown, will serve an open-pit roast beef dinner with homemade desserts from noon to 4 p.m. Adult meals cost $9; meals for children 6 to 12 are $4; and children 5 and under eat for free. The event is sponsored by the church altar guild.

TAKING ORDERS

National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon is selling homemade meatballs for $10 a dozen. Order must be placed by Friday. Pickup dates are Oct. 4, 5 and 6 from 1 to 5 p.m. Call 330-538-3351 to order early as quantity is limited.

UPCOMING

Girard Knights of Columbus, Council Hall, 122 S. State St., will have a Texas-style barbecue from 1 to 7 p.m. Oct. 13. It will consist of three meats, baby back ribs, beef brisket and chicken and homemade potato salad, baked beans and dessert. Cost for adults is $12. Chicken nuggets and fries will be available for children 12 and under for $5. Take out is available. There will be a basket auction. Robbins United Methodist Church, 100 High St., Washingtonville, will have quarts of homemade soups of different varieties available for sale the first Wednesday of each month, beginning Oct. 3. Quarts will cost $6. Drive-through pickup time is 4 to 6 p.m. For information call 330-427-2035.

St. Anthony Church is planning its fall spaghetti dinner Oct. 21. A basket auction will promote area businesses and officeholders. Golden patrons are asked to donate $100 or more, and their names will be displayed on a large sign. Others may donate $100 to receive 10 tickets and be recognized on the place mats. Donations also will be accepted for the basket auction. Send all donations to the church, 1125 Turin St., Youngstown, Ohio 44510 no later than Monday.

Western Mahoning County Kiwanis Club will have a Swiss steak dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 21 at A la Cart Catering, 429 Lisbon St., Canfield. The cost is $10.50 per person; tickets for children 4 to 9 are $7.50 and 3 and under are free. Meal comprises 7-ounce Swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans with carrots, coleslaw, roll and butter, and dessert. Tickets can be purchased from a club member or at the door.
