Professionalism award
The Mahoning County Bar Association has presented its 2012 Professionalism Award to Atty. James E. “Ted” Roberts, a partner in the Youngstown law firm of RothBlair.
Extensively involved in legal and community associations, Roberts has served as trustee and president of Akron Law Alumni Association. He has been a member of the executive committee and chairman of the Ohio Council of School Board Attorneys; trustee of Stambaugh Auditorium Association; director and president of the Visiting Nurse Association; and has been active with the YMCA, Rotary Club, March of Dimes, American Heart Association, Trinity United Methodist Church and The Youngstown Club.
Roberts served the Ohio State Bar Association as a member of its board of governors from 2008 to 2011, formerly as a member of its council of delegates, and chairman of The Committee for an Independent Judiciary in 2002 and 2006.
He was president of the county bar association from 2001 to 2002 and continues to serve as a trustee.
After graduating from the University of Akron School of Law in 1974, Roberts began practicing law with his father. Roberts & Roberts merged with Roth, Stephens & Blair in 1990 to form Roth, Blair, Roberts, Strasfeld & Lodge, and today the firm is known as RothBlair.
He concentrates now in school law, business law, public- and private-sector employment law and real estate law. As a limited-service instructor, he teaches graduate courses in school law and collective bargaining in the school of education at Youngstown State University.
Roberts and his wife, Cynthia, live in Poland.
